Early Readers Programme
What is ‘Early Readers’ about at Hyde Park?
We offer individualised tuition in a small group format for children aged 5 – 7 years. An introduction to English language skills, reading, writing and simple Math. For British, Canadian, American or IB curriculum, for new learners getting ready for school, transitioning from their home country or remedial English.
After an individual diagnostic assessment, children are introduced to reading, writing and speaking English in a dynamic programme, with phonics, decoding, word recognition, fine motor skills and letter formation. The programme also includes an introduction to Maths. The programme addresses students needs in their early school years, particularly with English as a second language. The programme is age appropriate, with account being taken of Primary ESL school students having problems with mastering some of the basics.
Each student works with their tutor on their individual programme, in a small ‘study group’ of up to 4. They are not taught as a group. This can be in conjunction with Remedial Math and Homework support if required. One to One tuition is also available if preferred.
